Camping Tips, Information And Advice To Help Beginners Get Started And Prepared With Their Camping Trip.

There are a variety of factors that must be considered when selecting your camping cookware. For example, campers must consider the type of food they will be eating, whether they will be backpacking, and how many nights they will typically be camping. After these reflections and some information on the products available, a decision can be made as to your camping cookware.

Some campers can survive with only one camp pot and a few pieces of flatware, very minimal camping cookware. Others need pots, pans, silverware and all the amenities of home to feel comfortable at their campsite. However, after considering the type of food you will be cooking, a better informed decision as to your cookware may be made. For example, if you will be cooking pasta each night. Then, a single pot will suffice for the trip.

Next, consider whether you will be backpacking to your campsite. If so, try to avoid a lot of heavy equipment, such as unnecessary camping cookware. Cookware can be very heavy and can ruin your pace and break your back in the process of hauling it to your destination.

Camping cookware comes in a variety of materials. You can find a camping pot in aluminum, titanium or stainless steel, which are all lighter than some heavier metal camping cookware sets. In addition aluminum cookware is available in anti-stick coverings that will make clean up a breeze, although they may cost a bit more. Some metal camping cookware sets may rust if they are not thoroughly dried. Cast iron camping cookware sets are hardy and will last forever but they are very heavy and should be avoided for a backpacking trip.

Utensils and flatware must also be considered. Basic items such as a knife, spoon and fork will be enough for most campers. Plasticware may be a great option. Also, polycarbonate flatware will not melt when it is used under high temperatures such as stirring boiling water. Also, consider folding utensils. They use less space for easy storage and are lightweight. Finally, combination utensils such a spork may be useful. It combines a spoon and a fork into one utensil which means that one of the two can be left at home.

Lastly, a great way to cut down on needless camping cookware is to prepare many portions of the meals while you are in the comfort of your home. For example, pre-slice vegetables, fruit, and cheese. Also, prepare sauces ahead of time or buy pre-made sauces.

These few tips can help cut down on heavy and unnecessary camping cookware. Spend some time reflecting on what you really need and make do with the utensils you bring with you. Great meals can be prepared with few items. The important thing is that you have fun while doing it.
